This Brazilian mystery, from the director of Central Station, chronicles the union between Paco, from Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Alex, a waitress in Lisbon, Portugal. After the death of his mother, Paco is left with little desire to stay in Brazil, so when he meets a sleazy antique dealer, he agrees to smuggle a violin stuffed with uncut diamonds to Lisbon. Paco is to take the instrument to a certain hotel where he will be paid by a contact. But when the contact doesnt show, Paco is led down a dark path filled with murder, danter and intrigue that eventually places him in the arms of Alex. Together they must somehow escape the murderous thugs sent to kill them.
