Inspector Gorley (Warbeck) arrives to solve the case.Lucio Fulci has stated several times that The Black Cat was directed as a favour to the producer; quickly and cheaply. It was a good favour. None of the carelessness of much of his later work is apparent.In every sense, the film is reminiscent of Fulcis best work. Photography and editing working marvellously together, and it may well be the most enjoyable film of Fulcis career.
