In a small skiing vilage in Germany, winter has descended. Laura is a nurse and aspiring actress who lives with Rebecca, a translator. Rebecca is involved with handsome ski instructor Marco. Rene is a movie theater projectionist who deals with his lack of short term memory by constantly photographing the world around him. Not far away lives local farmer Theo, a man struggling to keep his family happy and fed. One day he heads out with a horse in a trailer hitched to the back of his car - and his young daughter, stowed away without permission. On an icy road, things are about to change.
