Based on the best-selling novel by Jane Hamilton, "A Map of the World" is the story of an outspoken woman, Alice Goodwin, finding her herself to be an outsider when she and her husband, Howard, move to a small town to pursue Howard's dream of owning a farm. Alice soon discovers a close friendship with Theresa and her family. One morning while Alice is taking care of Theresa's little girls, she becomes distracted and one of the kids wanders off. When Alice realizes the child is gone, she goes in search and tragically finds her face-down in a pond. Filled with grief and guilt, Alice must fight to find forgiveness, not only from her friend and the town, but also from herself.
