It is the near future, Moscow. The city is ruled by gangsters and corrupt policemen. The streets are strangled with crime, violence and fear. Entrepeneur John Wade (Rutger Hauer) sees no harm in making a fast buck smuggling illegal silicon fantasy chips for cyberjunkies. But his partner, Merrick (Mark Dacascos), betrays Wade and kills him. End of story.......that is, until Russian authorities use experimental biosynthetic cyber-implants to resurrect Wade in order to interrogate him about Troika, the subversive underworld syndicate poised to take over the country. Escaping interrogation, Wade wants his money and a piece of Merrick. But now that Merrick has joined forces with Troika, Wade finds that in this city of the future, there is nowhere he can turn, no one he can trust. As Wade dodges assassins, scavenger bounty hunters and government agents, it looks like his new life wont last very long......but hes not going down alone!
