Set against the sinister background of London in the gaslight days, this terrifying story, reminiscent of the unsolved Jack The Ripper case, is that of a man who, driven by an inner compulsion to kill, becomes a human beast that strikes again and again, brutally murdering a number of young women. The macabre settings include Newgate Prison with its public executions, an asylum for the insane known as Coldbath Fields, the notorious house of ill repute known as The Judas Hole, and an eerie prison graveyard, creating an atmosphere of brooding horror and suspense.
