During a routine surveillance on a desolate ROUTE 9, two small town deputies Booth Parker (Kyle MacLachlan) and Earl Whitney (Wade Andrew Williams), come across over $ 1 million in cash, and a van full of drugs, several dead bodies and not a witness in sight. Unable to resist the temptation, the deputies take the money but soon find themselves at the center of a Federal drug investigation spurred on by the local sheriff (Peter Coyote). As their planned cover-ups starts to unravel, panic and a growing suspicion of each other compel the partners to take increasingly reckless and desperate measures as they relaize their time for escape is quickly running out.
