Bird with the Crystal Plumage
An American writer (Tony Musante - Toma) traveling in Rome is the only witness to an attempted murder by a sinister man in a raincoat and black leather gloves, though he is powerless to do anything to stop him. With a feeling that something is not quite right about the scene he has witnessed and the police's inability to make any progress, he launches his own personal investigation - and nearly loses his life in the process. While this modern day Jack-the-Ripper type is slithering through the dark byways of Rome, slicing up pretty girls, director Dario Argento is carving up the emotions of terrified viewers. Dark deeds are mixed with black comedy worthy of Hitchcock in a film of almost unbearable tension and nail-biting suspense.
The Cat O' Nine Tails
When a simple robbery at a research institute leads to a series of brutal murders, a blind puzzle maker (Karl Malden) and a tenacious reporter (James Franciscus) begin their own investigation of the crimes. With nine different clues to follow, they uncover a shocking web of twisted genetics and dark sexual secrets that will finally lead them to a shattering climax of violence and suspense.
Phenomena
Jennifer Corvino (Connelly), who is able to communicate telepathically with insects, is sent to an eerie Swiss boarding academy for girls where the students are being butchered by a vicious serial killer. Guided by wheelchair-bound bug specialist, Dr. McGregor (Pleasance), she must find the killer before he finds her. Beautiful school girls, weird faculty, maggots, mutants and a chimpanzee with a razor, this is Italian maestro Dario Argento's most outrageous movie. Darkly fanciful and almost dream-like, Phenomena is Argento's favorite among his films, though during production he claimed it was "a story I took from the outside."
