"Urban Jungle" is the story of Tommy, who escapes his hellish childhood by murdering his horribly abusive father, only to land in prison serving time for smuggling. Upon his exit from prison, he vows to beat the odds and fight to stay away from a life of crime in the "Urban Jungle." Tommy's work release program places him in east L.A. He is befriended by Guillermo, 20, a neighorhood kid working as a dishwasher in the same kitchen in an attempt by Father Chavez to keep him away from the danger and seduction of gang life. Tommy's future is promising for the first time in his life when he meets the angelic Sophia, a school teacher who educates him in something he's never known, love. Tommy is lured back to his former life, a return he initially resists, but in an attempt to help Guillermo and Sophia's younger brother Steven, a strung out heroin addict, he finds no other
alternative. A botched deal and his love for Sophia culminate in an explosive ending as Tommy must make the most important decision of his life: to turn away keeping clean or once again resort to the only way he knows.
