Imprisoned for thirteen years for allegedly kidnapping and murdering a six-year-old boy, Lee Geum-ja finds out that she was betrayed on behalf of her accomplice Mr. Baek. While in prison she carefully prepares for her revenge by winning over her cellmates, the prostitute who strangled her pimp and the old North Korean spy who hands her the "Sutra of revenge" instructions. Upon her release from prison after 13 years, she finally sets out to seek revenge on Baek, with the help of her former prison mates.
