Frodo is imprisoned in a tower guarded by orcs, and no one but Sam can free him, so that they can complete their quest to destroy the ring. Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli have gone off to find Aragorn's fleet, leaving Merry to fight alongside King Theoden's army. Miles away, Gondor, the last protected city against the dark forces, is being attacked by armies of orcs, trolls and Ringwraiths. Gandalf must use all his power and knowledge to keep the armies at bay until King Theoden and Aragorn arrive with reinforcements.
