On the morning of June 12, 2000 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the passengers on Bus 174 were taken hostage by hijacker Sandro do Nascimento. The hijacking was the most watched TV program in Brazilian history and resulted in a tense five hour stand off with police.
