Saathin (Nandita Das) is a low-caste woman working for the Rajasthan government's woman's development, who has been speaking up against the prevalence of child marriage customs. One night, a group of upper-caste men gang rape her in an attempt to silence her. But Saathin goes to the local courts, to seek justice. However, the corrupted judicial system only shifts her from one place to the next, until it attracts the international media, and Saathin becomes a pawn in a political chess game. Through all of it though, Saathin maintains her dignity and courage, as she goes from being a rape victim to a leader in the rape activism cause.
