The classic, often unfairly neglected Kaiju movie was directed by Ishiro Honda who made so many of Toho's classic creature features including the original 1954 Godzilla. Long time ago during WWII, the immortal heart of Frankenstein's monster was stolen from Dr. Frankenstein's lab in Europe and taken to Japan. Affected by the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, the heart starts to grow sprouting appendages and growing into a mutated quasi-human boy. Several years later, the teenage mutant wild boy is captured and examined by doctors specialized in mutantology who somehow decide to call him Frankenstein, after clearing the copyright situation with Mary Shelley's attorneys I presume (or is it in the public domain?). The boy grows at a warped rate into a gargantuan sized mutant person thing until they couldn't find boxer shorts with Toho logo large enough and he escapes the lab, only to be wrongfully accused for the destruction of only the entire countryside just because he's... well big. But they soon find a mutant reptilian monster who is the real culprit whom the towners should sue instead of the relatively innocent 20 foot wild delinquent person, after all he's got a big heart. Eventually, the two creatures face off one another in a showdown to go down in Kaiju movie history. Great score by the inimitable Akira Ifukube.
