When animation Director Fritz Frelen teamed the lisping pussycat Sylvester and the not-so-innocent little canary Tweety, he earned big laughs and an Oscar. In that film, Tweety Pie, Sylvester's efforts to extract the yellow bird from his cage literally being the house-his master's house, that is! Bob Clampett created our feathered friend in A Tale Of Two Kitties opposite a pair of "Abbott and Costello" cats. The Gruesome Twosome are rival alleycats (one a caricature of Jimmy Dutante) who chase Tweety for the hand of a female feline. The Cannary plays fireman in Birdie And The Beast, quenching a cat's burning thirst with a gusher of gasoline!Sylvester made his debut atypically in Life With Feathers, trying to escape a bird who wants to be eaten! The cat feels Growing Pains trying to convince Foghorn Leghorn he's not a chicken and gets musical in Back Alley Oproar, an uproarious mignight concert on Elmer Fudd's backyard fence . Plus Tweety versus Sylvester in I Taw A Putty Tat. Togerther, or on their own, this cat and canary will have you chirping with laughter!
